Frequently Asked Questions

Dietary Requirements

Where is Eleven98?

You won't find us on Google Maps, because our location is top secret. We're based in Stoke Newington N16, in the London Borough of Hackney, and the full address is revealed in our guests' booking confirmation email

How do reservations at Eleven98 work?

To dine with us a booking must be made in advance via our Reservations page. The Eleven98 experience includes a welcome cocktail on arrival, our infamous rosemary challah bread and house-made butter, and petit fours at the end of the meal. Just like booking for the theatre or cinema, payment is required at the time of booking. For our cancellation policy, please see here

Which dietary requirements are you able to accommodate?

We're able to accommodate a wide variety of dietary requirements including vegetarian and vegan, pescatarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, pregnancies, teetotallers and others. Just let us know when you book, and we'll take care of everything else

What about kosher and halal?

Depending on the level of strictness with which you adhere to these diets, we may well be able to accommodate you. While our kitchen is not Certified Kosher, we can provide a menu that is free of both pork and shellfish, and can offer the option of either a dairy-free or meat-free menu. For halal diets, while the meat that we source is from a traditional British butcher and therefore not halal, we can offer a menu that is either pescatarian or vegetarian and of course alcohol-free

Is your meat and fish reared/caught in East London?

This is a question that often comes up at the dining table, and it's usually asked somewhat tongue in cheek. Rest assured we do not go shooting deer in Clissold Park for our venison, nor do we catch our mackerel from the River Lea! As there are no commercial farms in the East End (Hackney, Spitalfields & Stepney City Farms are educational farms), we decided that the best way to source our meat and fish would be to partner with small, independently run businesses within East London, thus reinvesting money in the local economy. We have one butcher and one fishmonger, and we work very closely with both to source only the very best seasonal British produce. More about all of our suppliers

Where does the name Eleven98 come from?

You can learn all about our origin story here

What's the capacity at The Chef’s Table?

The Chef’s Table seats up to 12 guests for both our weekly Social Dining and for the Private Dining packages that we offer. We are also able to accommodate larger groups of up to 40 guests for Private Dining at local venues. If you'd like to enquire about this, you can do so via our Private Dining page

Can I book an individual table?

At Eleven98 we offer a communal dining experience, where guests are all seated around one large table. We coined the term "Social Dining" to describe the experience because that's exactly what it is - social! Our guests have the opportunity to break bread with one another, so to speak, which encourages a more interactive and convivial atmosphere

Do you have a dress code?

We don't have a dress code, because we want our guests to feel absolutely comfortable in whatever they choose to wear

Do you do anything for birthdays?

Please let us know when booking if you’re celebrating a birthday, and we’ll add a candle and a happy birthday message in chocolate writing to your dessert

Is there a minimum age for guests?

Yes, there is. The minimum age we cater for is 13 years and over (13-17 year olds will receive the non-alcoholic welcome cocktail). Regrettably we do not have facilities or the capacity for children or babies
